Wales
A few times a year my family and I go to Sanpete County, Utah for a get away. We stay with good friends in a little town called Wales. It has a population of under 200, I think. When we are there it feels like we are the only ones. It is so quiet and nestled right up to the mountain. The home we stay at is quaint and beautiful, restored so that it feels like we have stepped into the early nineteen hundreds. The colors are bright and the mood is relaxful. The yard is well kept with a tree swing in the front yard and flowers growing along the white picket fence surrounding the yard. It is the perfect get-away.
The thing that I enjoy most about Wales is that I don’t ever feel guilty sitting down and doing nothing. Time disappears here–there’s morning afternoon and night. Light and dark. No checking the clock, no deadlines to meet. There is no rush to get anything done. The odd thing is that it is at Wales that I get the most done.
There’s something about the atmosphere that makes you want to be productive without any of the pressure to be productive. It’s almost magical.
We all should have a place like Wales in our life that we return to often. A place to reflect. A place to do what we’ve wanted to, but haven’t found or made time for. Read a good book. Write a much needed letter to a friend. I hope that we can all make time in life for the things that are most important.
